Simcenter 3D Structural
Structural
Simcenter 3D for structural analyses supports multi-CAD and offers a various set of FE solvers used across industries such as Nastran, Abaqus, L-Dyna, and others to evaluate the structural performance of separate parts and entire systems. The main FE solution for CAE analysis of structures is obtained by well-known Simcenter Nastran, which is fully embedded into Simcenter 3D and can be used for both general and advanced simulations.
Simcenter 3D for structural analyses is a part of a multi-domain environment based on Simcenter 3D Engineering Desktop. It allows users to process structural simulation data in the same CAE environment as other physical domains (such as electromagnetics), import loads and initial conditions to the structural model, and exchange structural results to another domain for multidiscipline simulations and co-simulation with Simcenter 3D Thermal Flow.

Simcenter 3D Structures

Simcenter 3D Structures is a bundle combining the Simcenter 3D Engineering Desktop, Simcenter Nastran environment, and the Simcenter Nastran Basic solver. This bundle allows customers to build designs from scratch or import the geometry, pre-process CAE model, and solve (individually or in multiple solutions in sequence) with following solvers depending on the required analysis type:
-Linear Static (SOL 101): steady-state displacements, stresses, strains, and rotations
-Linear Buckling (SOL 105): buckling modes, critical buckling loads
-Basic Implicit Nonlinear Static (SOL 106): displacements, stresses, strains, rotations, refined critical buckling loads
-Nonlinear and Linear Transient Response (SOL 129): time-varying displacements, stresses, strains, rotations under linear and non-linear conditions
-Normal Model (SOL 103): modes, natural frequencies, displacements, stresses, rotations, reaction force, reaction moment
-Steady State Heat Transfer (SOL 153): steady-state temperature gradient, heat flow
-Transient Heat Transfer (SOL 159): time-varying temperature gradient, heat flow.
Simcenter 3D Structures also forms the foundation to which you can (add additional solutions) get multiple add-ons for structural dynamics, multistep nonlinear solver, thermal, flow, acoustics, motion, and optimization, all from a single environment. Another structural solver such as Ansys, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, MSC Nastran can be included as optional, as well as distributed memory parallel (DMP) processing for Nastran.
Applications: any types of structures, including transformer windings, cores, and infrastructure, motors, actuators, etc.

Simcenter 3D Multistep Nonlinear
Simcenter Nastran Multistep Nonlinear is an add-on to Simcenter 3D Structures (or Simcenter Nastran Basic) for simulating geometric nonlinearities, contacts, joints, plasticity, creep, hyper elasticity and other material behaviors. It provides two nonlinear solution options:
-Multi-Step Nonlinear (SOL 401): general purpose nonlinear solver that supports small strains, large displacements, large rotations. Can be used in co-simulation with Simcenter 3D Thermal Flow.
-Multi-Step Nonlinear Kinematics (SOL 402): general purpose nonlinear solver that supports large strains, large displacements, large rotations, and used for nonlinear mechanisms with joints and drivers.
Both solvers allow the following analysis: static, dynamic, preload, modal, buckling, cyclic symmetry modes, Fourier harmonic modes.

Simcenter 3D for advanced dynamic structural analysis

Simcenter Nastran Advanced Dynamics is a bundle for advanced dynamic analysis, which offers a variety of dynamic Nastran solvers that can be used for structural, vibro-acoustic, acoustic analyses:
- Direct Complex Eigenvalues (SOL 107): complex natural frequencies and modes with damping
- Direct Frequency Response (SOL 108): structural response at discrete excitation frequencies with damping
- Direct Transient Response (SOL 109): transient structural response under dynamic excitation and time-varying loads, damping is included
- Modal Frequency Response (SOL 111): structural response with damping, size of the problem reduced by mode shapes method
- Modal Transient Response (SOL 112): structural transient response with damping, size of the problem reduced by mode shapes method

Simcenter Nastran Advanced Dynamics also includes Nastran Dynamic Response solvers:
-Real Eigenvalues (SOL 103): natural frequencies and free vibration modes without damping.
-Response Dynamics (SOL 103): normal modes, attachment modes, constraint modes, distributed attachment modes.

In addition, Aerolastic Nastran solvers (SOL 144, 145, 146) are included into this bundle. Besides, Simcenter Nastran Advanced Dynamics offers high performance computing (HPC) capability via distributed computing or DMP.
